Drug Offences

In Western Australia, it is illegal to possess, manufacture, cultivate, sell or supply a prohibited drug. The list of prohibited drugs includes well known illicit drugs and prescription drugs that are not yours.

The type and quantity of the drug, the circumstances of the offence and your personal circumstances all impact the outcome of the offence.

A conviction for a minor drug offence may create issues for your employment and travelling overseas. It is possible to apply for the conviction to be spent for a minor conviction.

For the more serious drug offences, the State of Western Australia can initiate the confiscation of everything you own or control and seek an order for your property to be forfeited to the State. There are strict timeframes for responding to these matters.
